How to claim a free or reduced ticket

Under-18s: book a free timed-entry ticket online — choose €0 in the booking flow. Bring an ID document with date of birth.

Free-admission windows: show up 30 minutes before they start. The queue forms at the Goya door — bring a printed or digital placeholder ticket from the official site to guarantee entry.

Students 18–25 and seniors 65+: book the reduced ticket online and bring valid ID. Spanish DNI or international passport both work.

Disabled visitors: book the disabled-visitor ticket; the companion ticket is added automatically. Bring a valid disability certificate.

Bring proof: ID for under-18s, student or senior ID for reduced rates, the relevant card for free categories. Staff at the entrance check randomly — having proof on you avoids any awkward conversations.

Free & Reduced FAQ

Eligibility, documents, and edge cases

Do under-18s really enter free?
Yes. A free timed-entry ticket is still required — book it in the same order as paying adults. ID with date of birth may be requested.
Are non-EU students 18–25 also eligible for the reduced rate?
Yes — any student under 25 with a valid international student ID (ISIC or equivalent) qualifies for the €7.50 rate.
Do non-EU senior citizens 65+ also get the discount?
Yes — any visitor 65 or older with valid ID showing date of birth qualifies, regardless of nationality.
How do the free-admission windows work in practice?
Show up 30 minutes before they start. Queues form at the Goya door. Booking a free placeholder slot on the official site speeds things up but doesn't skip the queue.
Can carers enter free?
Yes — one companion of a disabled visitor is admitted free. See our accessibility page.
Is there a family ticket?
Spanish "Familia Numerosa" card holders pay €7.50 each. There is no other family ticket — under-18s are already free.
Are unemployed visitors free?
Yes — show a valid unemployment registration document at the ticket desk.
Are EU citizens free?
No — the Prado does not have an EU-citizens free policy. Use the daily free-admission windows instead, which are open to everyone.
